Hi Bob,

I used to dive a lot and also enjoy to snorkel. I've visited most of the beaches along our part of the coast line and cant say I've found anywhere where the snorkeling has been great. There are some covey beaches down by Cabo Roig - Cala Capitana etc. I've found that the snorkeling varies there due to how much sea grass there's about.

Ive never tried along Los Alcazares but I did notice there is a reef a short way out which I intend to try this year. Have you tried that, is it worth a visit? From what I have seen of the Mar Menor it does seem to weed up quite a lot so don't hold out much hope.

One of the best spots I've found has been down at Cabo de Palo. There is a cove to the right of the light house and over to the left is also OK but there's not much life about. I also found a reef by the first exit from the Mar Menor to the open water which was quite good. Of course the problem is with snorkeling over there is the wind, you just never know when its going to blow up....

Anyone else ever found any good spots?

See you in a few weeks Bob.

Gary

HEY- Great to hear from you both, I thought you were coming back sooner though. I see the weather over there is awful. My son in Stratford said today that it was freezing & the east coast is going to suffer according to the forecast. What time do you arrive? We will meet up in the club house. Do you need me to get you anything? I'm going shopping tomorrow.
Bring a warm coat, its a very cold wind here.
See yous soon, Josie

Josie

We don't land until 9pm and thats in Allicante, so probably won't get there until about 10.30 and the clubhouse will probably be shut by then, so it looks like we won't see you till monday and no matter how cold it is there, its' a lot colder here !

Hi everyone, this is probably not the right thread but hopefully will generate some advice.

We are thinking about installing internet in our apartment and wondered if the forum members had any advice or tips to offer on the best way to go about it - what's involved (phone line + broadband presumably), different providers, costs, etc.

What do those residents who have internet access think of the services they are using and would they recommend it  ??

All info gratefully received

Hello Gordon & Elaine
We have our internet from Cablevision, they charge 25e per month, if you pay up front for the year. If you want to pay by direct debit then the cost is 30e monthly.
The cost of installation is 260e for hard wired but if you want wi-fi, its an extra 90e.  These are the prices we paid last year & we are due for renewal in a couple of weeks.
At first we had a vodaphone dongle on pay as you go. Vodaphone is the best provider for mobile signal in this area. The problem with ours was the costs to download etc., as you pay for the megabites as oppose to time on line. A friend has his on contract & that works out cheaper, but I dont know the actual costings.
You can have internet on its own; internet & phone; internet, phone & tv. or any combination. I have the prices if you need more info- just pm me. The installation charges vary as do the monthly payments, depending on what you want.
We had a problem & lost our connection, that was during back end of 2010. It was also around the time we were taken off generator. I think it was a combined problem, tweaking the electrics must have damaged the amplifier for the communications. It was sorted after a time at no cost to us.
I have to say its great, we contact all our family & friends on skype & it doesn't cost a bean! Its also handy if you need to find information for any number of things-just google it.
   Hope this helps, Regards-Josie
