Hi Chris and Julie

We are above you at the top 3B (above our door is the sign "Tercero" and by the side of our door the letter B but we are definitely Door 16 so we are definitely neighbours.

Hi Jon and Sarah,

I am due to complete soon on a first floor, one bedroom swing apartment.  I  don't suppose you know whether Swing apartments have the same problem which requires a bespoke shower cubicle?

Unfortunately I haven't actually seen inside yet!

Many thanks for your help,

Karen

Hi Karen
The 2 bed swings I was in last week needed a bog standard 76cm cubicle,
ask UGR aftersales if 1 bed is the same as 2.

Hi Bob,

No, it's Gibbs and Dandy! Jon Hughes also suggested supplying shower screens and enclosures, but even the cheaper models would not show much of a saving against locally-sourced products. My best UK deal at the moment for a reasonable quality quadrant enclosure and tray is £298 inc VAT whereas the comparable enclosure I have bought for La Tercia costs about £270 including fitting. All immaterial at the moment, as apparently we won't have any hot water when we arrive on 15 June (no gas and solar panels not connected)

Regards,

Bill

Bob,

We ordered the enclosure with our bathroom fittings and furniture from DFS in San Javier. White metal frame and glass doors. Quality seems fine. Ilucom at Torre Pacheco is also worth a look and has a better choice.

Bill

Hi Bill

Noticed your email about having no gas or solar power - perhaps you've got it sorted out now.  We completed middle of April and spent a week 30 Apr to 7 May in our Tee apartment (main door 18, 1A).  When we arrived found no gas -and it was evening - but a call into the sales office in the morning and within half hour Ed had arrived with gas cylinder and hey presto lovely hot water (pressure excellent too).

Although a lot still to be completed, there was plenty of building activity at the clubhouse and believe it will be an impressive building when finished. We managed to play three times (all the better as it was FREE)!  :D

We're next going out in September for 15 days and that's what's keeping us going in this dismal summer in the UK.  Roll on next year when hopefully we can enjoy the `better life' all the time.

regards

Joyce & Ian Russell

Hi Joyce and Ian,

I think you got your gas bottle before the (mains) gas company discovered what was going on and told UGR that it was illegal! Apparently they no longer offer a bottled gas connection. UGR are now trying to get us connected to the mains but, failing that, we'll be joining the queue for the staff shower in the sales centre. The Spar shop in the village is reportedly stocking up on deodorant and the pools are being cleaned and filled for use as communal baths.

Regards,

Bill

Or, we could all nip round to Joyce & Ian's for a hot shower!

Seriously, does this mean that since the gas company found about illegal connections to gas bottles that they have taken them away and therefore no hot water on site?

Does anyone know how this affects a certificate of habitation - does anyone know whether or not that in order to get a C of H you had to have hot water.

Hi Sandra

I can confirm there is no hot water on site and they are no longer giving out gas botles as this was found to be illegal not sure how this stands with the HC though.

Hi All

Received from my lawyer this morning:

"Thank you for your e-mail with regard to the connection of supplies, however we must inform you that the fees that you paid for connection of these is not related in any way to the fact that the promoter must solve the problem with the gas.

The fees paid are for the tasks involved with the contracting and connecting of the supplies.  It is necessary to register with each supplying company, providing them with the necessary documentation to include photocopies of the title deeds, the official certification that the installation of the cables or pipes is correct, NIE numbers, passports etc.  All of this must be presented at the offices of the different companies and once this documentation has been given to them a technician contacts us to arrange for us to provide access to the property so that the meter can be installed.  It is for all of this service that you have paid the fees.

With regard to Gas Natural, we have presented the necessary documentation and we have also attended the property on two separate occasions to provide access to the technician who on both occasions did not attend.  The main office has informed us that there is a problem with the installations made by the builder and for this reason they are not able to connect the gas.  This is why we have now requested the builder to resolve this matter.

With regard to the water and electricity, as soon as the builder provides us with the official certification that the installation of the cables and pipes is correct we will be able to organise the connection of these supplies by following the steps as outlined above."

So, not really sure what is actually going on here. so I guess its just wait and see what happens.

Hi Malc and Jane,

Have you or has anybody else actually had mains gas installed yet, if not have they removed your temporary gas bottle for H&S reasons?

The thought of us all queueing up to use the sales staff shower at 9.30am brings thoughts of Carry On Camping to mind.

Ray
