banking
« on: January 22, 2008, 11:33:14 PM »
has anyone had any dealings with 'Bankinta' we were recommended to use this bank when we first decide to buy a property on H/R 18 months ago.
We got the keys in Nov although we have not stayed in the apartment yet.
we banked enough money to make any necessary payments for the property plus a bit extra into the account .
since then we have been unable to access the account because we do not have any bank card or security numbers. i have spoken to someone at the bank on several occasion, each time they say that they will send out a bank card and pin number to us, but they have still not arrived we receive regular statements with maintenance fees deducted OK but do not receive any cards i am getting concerned now due to the amount of calls i have made and i am still getting no where.

Hi Freda

I have heard of the bank called Bankinter.  Is the same bank as you have posted about.  I have had an account with them since we bought our first property over here 7 years ago.  At the time we only had a card that allows us to either do telephone banking or internet banking.  We do not have credit and debit cards.  Which branch did you open your account at.  Are they the ones you have called.  As ar as maintenance as a non resident you pay a charge to the government via the bank.  Its about 20 euros every 6 months.

Please email if you have any other questions.

hi john & sarah
thanks for your reply.
The card to which i am referring is the card with the identification code on and pin numbers in order to use the account.
The bank is in  Costa Alicanca. the the fees charge each month are  non-residency management fees  plus taxes we were adviced to use this bank from a rep at p/w at the time we agreed to purchase the property. In the correspondence from bankinta it say they speak English and can be contacted from 8am to 8pm i phoned today at 6pm asked to speak to someone in English and the reply was no, and the line went dead.i will try again  tomorrow.
