Hi.

i live in Norfolk ... am quite interested in transport costs as it would make life easier next june.
to be honest in some ways if furniture was bought in the uk, some of the bigger stores are nationwide (DFS, Aldiss etc) so even though we may all live far and wide the larger items of furniture could be taken from one uk point (with some cooperation from suppliers)
looking at furniture prices in spain when i was last over there, my feelings are that quality furniture is cheaper here but by the time we add transport costs ... maybe not????
hopefully coming to Coventry .. so a good point for discussion i think

Hi Denise ,

I think that you are right , you can get the same standard furniture in both countries , but its much cheaper here , especially in the sales or any of the other offers you see flying around , interest free credit , buy now pay later to name just 2 , the snag is the transportation costs , thats why we are aiming to make this problem a thing of the past for forum members , and non-members to a certain extent , by giving a great removal service at a great price.

As i`ve said previously , i will have all the details and prices very shortly so i will update you then , also hope to see you in Coventry for a more detailed chat.

Hi Neil.

We will be furnishing our holiday apartment at UGR La Tercia, and are considering buying larger items in the UK then shipping them out so we can guarantee delivery dates to be when we're there.
So on that basis please count us in as potential customers too.

Hi, we live in Largs on the west coast of Scotland and have purchased in phase 1 and would be interested in this service.

Would certainly take a lot of the hassle factor out of the equation for those of us who are unable to spend too much time in Spain looking round and purchasing all the diffferent things you need to buy, etc.

How would I convert what we have (sofa etc )into cubic metres, or is it the same principle as knitting fog! :D

Sorry to be so thick, but hey i'm from Yorkshire  ;D

Hi Rob ,

You would have to measure the width , height and depth in millimetres and then times them all together ,

e.g  width....1800mm

      height....1000mm

      depth.....900mm

      so the cubic metre ( m3 ) volume would be  1.800 x 1.000 = 1.8
      1.8 carried forward                                  1.8 x .900      = 1.62 m3

Dont forget the decimal point , in 4 digit measurements the decimal point is after the first digit and 3 digit measurements the decimal point is before the first digit.

Hope that helps , probably as clear as mud... :D

Hi Rob ,

Yea , when we start talking about what furniture we want taking down , we know the time is short before we finally complete , although us being linksers have to wait until june 08 .

Hope your calculater doesn't go into meltdown with all the m3 number crunching....

Hi All ,

Can i take the opportunity to thank everyone who has shown an interest in this project , i am close to finalising all the details and will update everyone soon.

A quick reminder , i am currently in the process of setting up a removals company to aid those on this site ( and to those who have not yet registered as members ) who wish to buy their furniture in the UK and have it transported down to their site in Murcia , if you think this service would be beneficial to you then please let me know .

Many thanks ,

Neil.

Hi Jon and Sarah,
Just wondering, is everything going to plan timewise for your move? sorry you won't be at Coventry. We along with a few others will be out to see how how thngs are going between 6th and 13th October, so we could perhaps inspect the wine bar at La Tercia for an hour or so one evening, if you fancy ?

Hi Malc and Jane

We complete on our House on the 16th August, and are in the the final stages with the business sale, so all being well we should arrive in Spain the first week of September.  We are now going to rent on La Torre so as to be close to the School and UGR.  It would be great to meet up and we will also be able to visit the site on a regular basis, so will be able to give up to date reports on progress.

Hi All ,

Quite a few people have recently asked me how to go about calculating the cubic metre of an object , so i thought i would attempt to explain , here goes ;

Don't forget the decimal point , in 4 digit measurements the decimal point is after the first digit and 3 digit measurements the decimal point is before the first digit.

Hope this helps in your number crunching ,

Neil.
