This forum is an excellent idea. It wasn't easy to find (about 5 pages into a Google search), so I'm not sure how new members can be added, but it would be great if we could somehow spread the word among La Tercia buyers. We have bought a Tee penthouse apartment in Zone 12 Block 5.
Since signing up, we have heard so many horror stories about dodgy developers, agents and solicitors that we have wondered whether buying in southern Spain was a good idea. The Spanish Property Insight website (
www.spanishpropertyinsight.com) run by Times columnist Mark Stucklin has been very useful, not least for helping us to find an excellent independent lawyer. He thought that the United Golf Resorts contract was fairer than many he had seen, but still got them to agree to a few minor changes.
One question I asked the developers was: Where will all the water come from? Drought is a big problem there, and some experts say that all the planned developments (n.b. thirsty golf courses) can't be sustained by existing water sources. I was told that they are building a desalination plant and an underground reservoir- does anyone have more information about this?
We are going out for a week in June, staying in Los Alcazares, so will visit the development and post photos to this site.
All the best,
Bill N
