Currency Exchange
« on: August 03, 2006, 01:43:50 PM »
Could anyone recommend a company to purchase currency through? There seem to be two big players, Global Exchange Network(who have offices in Villamartin) and Hifix(?).  Both exchange rates seem pretty reasonable for my initial deposit that I will be paying shortly, once I get sight and approval of a contract!  Are there any hidden charges I should be looking out for?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Carlos.

Hello Carlos

We used  www.currencymatters.co.uk They were very helpful and gave a good rate.  You will have to send copies of your passport etc. because of the money laundering laws.

Hi Carlos

We used HIFX very good service also they guarantee no bank receipts charges, when sending your money abroad. There may be charges from your Bank, for the transfer of your funds to the currency company you use.

Hi,

We also used HIFX for our transfer, being recommended by our agent. No problems there, the rate was better than using a transfer from our bank.

While on the subject of money. Who do you guys use for Euro purchases in smaller quantities? It looks to me like Marks and Spensers or about the best provider of currency at the moment. What do you all think?

Hi,

I have just noticed that the Euro has risen today. On Yahoo finance it is 1.48. I am not sure what the high street price will be, I might take a look later and buy some currency for our holiday…

Hi all,
Is there a reliable website that can be recommended to track the Euro?

Hi Dave,

We have an account with HIFX but never looked at the website!

Perhaps I could look into building a currency converter into the site, what do you think?

Hi Dave,

I’ve found a free currency converter that we can use. The link is above, next to site plan.

Hi,

At Marks and Spenser today you could get 1.43€ to the pound. That’s a few extra visits to the tenth!

We used HIFX and had a reasonable rate and good service in March, however Halo Financial seem a lot sharper with their rates, so at least check them out, they have maintained good professional contact with me for the last 6 months waiting for me to move the BIG NUMBER over to Spain.....
