Mike you might like to take a look at this topic that has been running on the forum for sometime now regarding Corvera airport click here you will need to scroll down page. It was reported in July 2009 that the airport was experiencing problem raising the finance needed.

Good news though there is an article in the reporter newspaper, click here regarding a 9.7 million investment in road access to new airport.

I guess the completion date for the airport will depend on the finance being made available :-\

Just received the following link.  Obviously doesn't contain much information yet but it looks like a site that will be updated as time goes on.

Great to have it confirmed - always a niggling little doubt.  Let's see if we get our hotel now  ;)

How many of us have not considered or used Alicante instead of San Javier.
2 flights per day so you can arrive in the morning and not just in time to go to bed and leave late if you so require (people renting will want the most time in a destination for their money). Cheaper flights (because there are more and they don't subsidise the military).
I can see Corvera being a more direct competitor to Alicante than SJ. and wouldn't be surprised to eventually see SJ. return to either just military use or military and smaller 'internal' flights. I also think that Corvera will take quite a bit of air-traffic from Alicante for those heading South. Makes sense?
Best part is, if we blokes have gone out to Corvera early and had a party the night before so we are all too drunk to pick you girls up from the airport....... it's close enough for you to walk! ;D Just Kidding, honest!

Interesting news item on Simply Networking today:

http://www.simplynetworking.es/news-3303-31-chinese_trade_delegation_inspect_corvera_airport_installations_and_site_of_proposed_zeic_park.html

I had not heard of the ZEIC Park development before but if it comes to fruition could be very good news for the region of Murcia (but also a kick up the backside).

Bit more about the ZEIC development:

http://www.zeic.es/dentro_zeic_english.htm

There is also a nice video from the Murcia Tourist board if you follow the link on the home page....reminds us all of the beauty, culture and potential of this region and why we all want to live in our little bit of it...
