IBI - Valor Catastral
« on: October 19, 2009, 08:27:57 PM »
We have just received a bill from San Javier Town Hall, which we presume is the IBI we have been expecting for 2008 and 2009.  Can anyone shed any light on how they arrive at Valor Catastral and I would be interested to know if anyone else has received one and how much it is for (ours is 820,95 euros for 2 years.

Thanks

Jane

Can anyone advise on how they have managed to pay for the above through their bank please?
We have contacted the Halifax our bank in Spain who say they cannot pay this bill and I have to pay in person, they did however say they could make a bank transfer but would need the town halls bank details but I have had no luck in getting these details. Our solicitor also tells me it must be paid in person but I have heard of people paying through their banks without having to be in Spain.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks Rory.

Rory

On the demand form that you received, below the figure is a list of Entidades (banks) who will accept payment of the amount. Unfortunately Halifax is not one of them.

I paid my amount of 734.82 through my account at CAM and I believe that is what others are doing.
The only other alternative is to ask your agent locally if they can pay in person on your behalf by faxing them your form and remitting the amount to their bank, if they are willing to oblige.

Hope this helps.

One of the problems with having an account with the Halifax is that they donīt have any facilities to pay any of the goverment type tax payments including Suma, Income Tax and IBI

With all other banks including CAM, Banestro, etc it is a simple process to pay these items online

According to the form I have BBVA is one of the banks, I assume this is Banco Valencia, you will need to send them your invoice by fax or email and ask them to make payment from your account.
To set up direct debits for the future apparently we need to get forms from San Javier Town Hall

Hi Hugh_man

Sorry to correct you on this - BBVA and Banco Valencia are 2 different banks.  BBVA is situated in the pedestrianed precinct in LA and I think Banco Valencia is on the main road (used to be opposite the 525 Hotel).

Hope this helps

Glad you managed to get it sorted Rory.
Still wondering whether or not all Roda Owners have received their demands yet or not. As far as I knew only Phase 2 and some Phase 3 owners had received theirs. Have Phase 1 owners seen demands?

In Spain it is up to all individuals to declare and pay their taxes, so may be worth a visit to the Town Hall to check on your liabilities before they mount up.

Hi everyone,

Sorry I've been offline for a few days or I could have given Rory the bank details so he could arrange a transfer straight away.  We also paid by Halifax bank transfer and it was very straightforward - I also asked the Town Hall to confirm by email when the transfer reached them, which they have now done.  It may be worth doing this Rory as there is a fine if the money doesn't reach them on time!

From what I understand, Roda were very slow in sending off the information the Town Hall needed to make up the bills.  It seems strange that no-one on Phase 1 has got theirs yet, but presumably they sent off Phase 2 first.

hiya

Just to confirm that as of last week we still had not received our bill.  I checked our post box before we left on Saturday and nothing there.  My lawyer has telephoned the Town Hall to find out some 2 or 3 weeks ago and they confirmed they had not issued Phase 1 bills - as you say Jane - very strange indeed.

Rory,
It does take a couple of days, but they were quite good getting back to me.

Sandra,
Our bill came to our UK address, not sure what others have experienced though.  Don't worry - they will find you!

I think you will find that bills will have gone to the original address that you advised to Roda was your place of residence when you signed your life away.

In other words if you have moved and advised Roda or Housing, it is possible the Town Hall will not have been notified of any change. Just remember where you were in 2005/6.
