I think summer 2012 is a more realistic time scale!

Following Monarch's withdrawal this year from UK to Murcia
This announcement is extremely worrying for all that have not only bought on Roda but elsewhere in Murcia.

Access to San Javier will no doubt become more expensive or involve flying into Alicante with longer journey times.
Does not bode well for Corvera airport either, unless some hefty incentives are on offer.

As you say Hugh_man, interesting politics.  It seems that in our little part of Spain airports and runways are like buses, they all seem to arrive at once - it will be interesting to see how this story develops.  Having waited for the second runway at San Javier it would be a cruel irony if commercial traffic is transferred to Corvera, but the political maneouvring seems to keep us all guessing.  It's also staggering to read that the traffic at San Javier has dropped by so much, presumably most of this is down to Ryanair downscaling its use and transferring to Alicante.  Hard to see how Corvera will generate sufficient traffic to sustain itself, but time will tell...
