Just watched a video on YOU-TUBE of paddle tennis. There are several videos which make interesting viewing.!!

This is palyed on a smaller court than tennis with no markings for doubles.

It looks like a sport for the young / fit members at Roda so count me out.

According to Stuart on RodaGolfInfo the sports facilities will be open on 1 st July, he has published a number of new photos of both the facilities and Phase 4 progress.

I saw the sports facilities yesterday and you now can drive the whole way over to where the courts are. The car park is extended with a small roundabout at the end and it is all fenced in and there is a lot of new planting going on. There are trees planted behind the nets of the five a side pitch and basketball court ie to shield it from the 7th tee, although to be fair it is unlikely that there will be anyone on that tee after 11.30am during the summer as people are playing a lot earlier in the heat, so I don't imagine that the perceived noise mentioned in earlier posts will actually materialise. The whole area looks great with paths between the courts and it is nicely landscaped and fully screened from the hotel site. All systems go from tomorrow so it will be nice to see people using the Paddel and tennis courts in the evenings as I am sure they won't be overly busy during the hot summer days.

Any updates on whether the facilities are open?  Roda/Calidona have still not put any details on their own website despite telling me that they would rather put out updates on there rather than pass them on for information on here.

My apologies, just found this on the Calidona site, wish they would use Roda website as well.............. Not sure what constitutes members in terms of the pricing...........................

We would like to inform you that Roda Golf and Beach Resort's new sporting facilities in front of hole 7´s lake will be open from the 1st of July 2009.
As we have been previously informing there will be 2 courts for paddle, 1 tennis court and a Sports centre available for different activities for both residents and visitors.

You can make reservations via email, phone or personally during office hours. Client cards must be presented when making reservations.

I was playing golf last night at 6.30pm and the new sports facilities were really busy with some young people on the tennis court, people playing Paddel Tennis and youngsters enjoying the five aside pitch and playground. I am happy to report that the noise was not in any way off putting and not even audible over the sound of the fountains in the water feature so no worries there and it was great to see so much life about the place.
I think that Members refers to Golf Rights holders but not 100% sure on that and I will check it out.

And on  thursday 30th July ( this week), there will be from 20.00 to 22.00 some exhibition padel in Roda and " I will play too"  i.e. Marisol is taking part in this exhibition padel match and she asked us to let owners know about this.  So, if you want to learn more about the sport you will now have the opportunity!
