Keep Positive
« on: May 26, 2009, 09:48:15 AM »
Hi All

Has some of you know we are owners of an apartment on La Tercia, and ever since we found the empty field in OCT 05 called UGR La Tercia and taken ownership in June last year our experience has been mostly positive.

We both love the area. We love the fact that within 45 minutes of landing at San Javier airport we are in our apartment having a beer and a glass of wine. We love the view from our apartment, with our fresh green grass ;D. We like the people we’ve met so far and hope to meet more  8) .

We really look forward to every visit. I do understand why people are jittery. Considering the present economical climate.

Lets see how many positve points we can post about UGR La Tercia. I am sure more positives far outway the negatives.

So to start off the keep positive topic.

1. New Roads.

2. Able to walk in to La Tercia village, stop intergrate with our Spanish neighbours, not tried the walk in to Sucina yet, but hopefully soon :D

3. Riding our bikes in the Spanish Country Side ( well trying to ride our bikes :) ).

4. The resident owners of UGR La Tercia  8) 8)

These are my 1st positive points. Please do add to them. My glass is still half full ;) come on you 2nd phasers

Dave  ( who would like positive comments only in this topic please, and no hijacking of this topic with other topics ;D ;D )

We are 2nd phasers hoping to complete and agree with you, Don't forget other positives are :
1 The Sunshine,  as I sit writing it is a miserable grey day and raining in England. :(
2 Somewhere to escape from the children.......leave them in England. ;D
3 The nice pool not far from my apartment. :)
4 The wife wont drive in Spain so she cant go shopping. :o
5 The whole relaxing feeling, meeting other UGR owners, watching the golfers and maybe seeing Dave trying to ride a bike!! ;)
6 Reading the positive comments on the forums, and knowing that we made the right choice :-*
7 Just hope we can still afford to complete, get a mortgage, and learn to snag .:o
8 And finally looking forward to meeting Dave.... :) :)

Hi All

The Forum team welcome all comments on this Forum - this is a place where us owners can air our views in a friendly manner.  It can't be sunshine and roses all the time but it would be nice......!

I too am looking forward to meeting all the new owners who have joined our fantastic forum recently as well as inviting Sox's wife (and anyone else that would like to come)  on a shopping trip and generally just lapping up the wonderful La TErcia atmosphere!!

For me La Tercia is just wonderful and as the community expands it will just get better and better.

Best regards
Sandra

I agree only positive comments here, there's plenty of room elsewhere for other comments.

The people,
the pool is a great temperature at present,
cold beer, hot coffee from sports bar
food served,
golf course is busy,
peaceful,
watch our investments grow,
Hardworking presidential team,
our painting team has booked in with us for 2 days repainting at no cost, this was negotiated with us for our convenience and the lads were brilliant,
Brilliant location,
thats it for now, going to sit in the sun

Bye

Hi Sox

Don't be so sure of the wife not driving. After 10 years of visiting Spain I never dared get behind the wheel. Having your own wonderful place at UGR changes things. The familiarity of visting the same place, getting to know your way around the roads in the area, which are better and quieter than in UK etc. I bit the bullet last Christmas and now love driving in Spain. It means I can go out on my own and be independent. My husband thought I would never do it and neither did I. It feels so much different when your place in Spain becomes a home.
We had the same unnerving thoughts as those on phase II, but, next month being a year from our completion we have absolutely no regrets and it has changed our lives for the better (even if a bit poorer).
The atmosphere on the resort is great, we have met so many wonderful new people. We have time to see friends and have life on La Tercia that we are too busy for in the UK.

One other thing to Dave, perhaps it's my new confidence in driving but I am sure I once got to my balcony in 30mins, perhaps better clear the roads when I drive ;D

30 minutes eh Trish, that is brilliant,.... considering you were in the car rental queue for 10 minutes of that !

One of my favourite times at La Tercia, is at the end of the day, when,  perhaps with new friends, sit out on the balcony, overlooking the golf course, listening to the crickets and bullfrogs; with a jug of sangria, a few beers, a small cigar, and for real excitement, indulge in a game of Uno or Dominoes.... Jet-set or what !

That is the beauty of the place, you can do as much or as little as you want.

Say "hello" to Janice, my daughter, also an owner, on her way there for 5 days, as I type this.

Nice thread Dave....We love it out there.

In April of this year I left my two elderly (but very young at heart) parents out at UGR without a car for a week (a mistake, with it being Easter there were no cars to hire).  I could have wept when I was leaving them and I worried about there being no bus service for them to get about and the fact they are hopeless with a mobile phone and I wouldn't be able to contact them.  However, they had a fantastic time, everybody made them feel very welcome, especially our lovely neighbours Jayne & Malc who ran them around and more importantly emailed me to let me know they were ok.

They made lots of friends in the Sports Bar, attended the BBQ, walked to La Terica and made friends with the locals and they can't wait to get back.  Therefore, the positives for me, amongst all the other points mentioned, are that;
I will feel happy for any of my family (young or old) to go out to UGR and have a great time making new friends.
I know that if they have any concerns someone will always help them out.
What more can you want.

Pam (out on June 17th - Yippee!!!!!  Can't wait)

Hi Dave T
First off the plane, straight through passport control, no queue at goldcar, always book with them so no details necessary, Sunday traffic so 15 mins to La Tercia. Will admit this did not inc. opening the wine and has only been achieved once. What I like even more, and is not an exaggeration  ;D is when returning. Last time I left the apartment at 10.am and was through security by 10.30am with no check in.

Has anybody mentioned the wonderful beaches near by. Only 15/20mins to the mar menor or the lovely beaches of the Costa Blanca. Looking forward to those next month.

Knowing that you have a place in Spain is just the thing to get you through the UK winters.

The COUNTRY BOWLS BAR & RESTAURANT whose opening hours are i believe Tuesday - Saturday 9.30am - 11pm or later (food served til 9pm) Sunday lunch served 1pm - 5pm (bar closes around 7pm)and they are closed Mondays. I believe it is still open, with new management in place

Pete and I feel really positive about La Tercia today - why??  Last night at the Sports Bar for the football match, I think Man United were playing some Spanish team!!! ??? I won the sweepstake.   ;D Thought it was a couple of bottles of wine until we collected it this morning and it was 12 bottles. ::) :D  La Tercia really is a great place today. 8) 8)  Many thanks to Mark and Carl.

All the best
