TV Packages

We are on phase 2 and have used Teleast to get satellite TV but now they no longer provide Sky Sports or Movies.  Is there any other provider or way of getting these channels on Roda Golf Resort?

I have a friend in a villa who is keen to get some sort of satellite television sorted out but does anyone know if it is possible to get the Irish channels RTE1 and 2 as he is a keen sports fan and wants these channels? If you know anything about Sky as well that would be helpful too. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Though I am no expert on this matter, I believe that Teleast who supply all of Roda used to offer a pay monthly digital service that included Sky and RTE etc, but like many suppliers in Spain they were stopped from repackaging Sky broadcasts as it was being done illegally. Obviously many bars still do have access to Sky so there must be other suppliers who offer a legal service, perhaps ALL the communities at Roda should be getting together along with the Administrator to see if a new supplier to the whole resort can be found to supply Sky etc if required if indeed there is a legal service provider.

The only other way is to erect a satellite dish which is as far as I am aware against the communities byelaws.

You cannot legally received SKY TV in Spain and a number of providers that were supplying it on a pay monthly basis have been closed down ober the last year with ongoing cases

There is still some doubt of you should be able to receive UK channels in Spain as again strictly speaking you should not be able to receive these in Spain but hundred of thousands of people do either via one of the re-broadcasters or form their own dishes

In my own case I have a large dish, the minimum size required to get all of the channels all day, normally BBC2 and cahnnel 4 are the problem ones, which is 1.9m wide and cost me about €800 with a Freesat box over a year ago. I could have SKY as I have a SKY box and card but I don´t choose to pay for this but you can also bring your own card from the UK. I do get all of the normal channels

The other option, as I have in my apartments,  is using one of the re-broadcasters the main one being Torresat where you get a small dish, less than .25m and costs €20 per month plus an installation charge but again no SKY or RTE provided

If anybody needs any other information or deatails of installers plese PM me

Hi Roy
I am not sure how to PM you but I have a friend who has a villa on Roda and wants to install ADSL and phone line from Telefonica. Telefonica say there is no phone box in the casing outside the villa just loose cables - how does she get a phone box installed? In our apartment it was simply a matter of plugging in the phone and we were connected but this does not seem to be the case in villas. Any help would be much appreciated although she has gone home again very frustrated with no progress made.

Thanks
