Roda Social Golf
« on: March 29, 2009, 05:53:34 PM »
All Rights Owners should have received an email from Pablo re the formation of the Association of Roda Golf Rights Owners or AGR, if you have not please contact me asap, if you have I urge you to register so that you may have a voice on the further improvement of both social golf and potentially other benefits.

So far in conjunction with AGR, Roda are providing regular tee times from 9.30 on Tues, Thurs and Sat for a social swindle. All Rights Holders, Owners and Guests with an official handicap certifcate are welcome.

A cost of 5 euros plus normal golf fee is payable and winner takes all but buys 1st round of drinks.

Just let the golf shop know when you want to play and turn up around 9.10 for what is prooving to be a popular swindle.

There will also be a St Georges day tournament on 23rd April so get out there and fly the flag, details at golf shop.

Hi Hugh Man
I just have question for you in relation to playing in the social gathering you mention above, the problem i have is i dont have an official handicap as i am a pavilion member in a very old and respected club beside where i live and have been now for 2 years ,because its so close to home i dont want to join anywhere else.Iam a owner on phase 4 and am over in roda for 2 Weeks at the end of July and would love to play in the competion with yourselves as i still have not played the course yet ,now i think i have read somewhere else that i could pay 60 euro to get a session with the pro and he would give me a spanish handicap that i could then use (but i will only get the 1 round in this year )and our apartment is to be ready by may2010 so would then have no problem going down that spanish route but i dont want to pay 60 EURO for 1 round of golf on top of the green fees.Iam sure i could get a letter on headed note paper from our commettie stating my handicap of 14.Would this be sufficent

Erinzak, hi

I fully understand your reluctance to pay out for a Spanish Licence until you nare able to play more often.

I am quite sure that if you are content to declare a sensible handicap, those you play with will have no problem, fortunately the majority of golfers still have honesty and integrity and seeing as the winner pays for the first round of drinks any potential bandits will not not see much benefit from playing off the wrong handicap.

Can I suggest you contact Juan or Bruno in the proshop before your arrival dates an
d ask them to put your name/s on the list for the Owners/guests tournaments. Tee times should be from 9.30 but may vary so worth checking.

So far things are working well with a hardcore of 5-6 locals and a similar number of short term visitors joining in, and it only started in April.

The company is good so enjoy

I will do that nearer the time , i have been off 14 for the past year and have not been near a prize in our club yet ,so i dont think there will be any danger from me .Its not for the prize that i want to play anyway its just the chance to have a nice round of golf and to chat to fellow owners and see what they think of the resort god knows it will be 4 years since we put down our deposit till we get our place in may next year
Hope to see you on the day
Thanks for your help
Aidan

The St George's Day tournament was a great success with around 20 players including Spaniards and Scots declaring themselves honorary Englishmen for the day. Two players tied on very creditable 41 points with Dave beating Norma on countback to scoop the prize.

A big thank you to Yvonne and her very able helper for organising drinks and snacks at the start and providing bacon rolls with bucks fizz at the 10th. Considering we ordered an English Ploughmans lunch after the golf we were all impressed with the effort made by all the staff in the clubhouse.

Well done Graham for suggesting the event and getting it underway and thanks to all the ProShop staff for their assistance and to the greenkeepers for having the course in excellent condition.

More events will be planned throughout the year and the new team in charge of the golf have promised to work with all rights holders, owners and their guests in order to ensure more of a golf club feel to Roda.

Only sad news is that the Chelsea supporters could not bring themselves to wear red and white on the day. Still you can't have everything.

The barbecue for Golf Rights Holders was also a great evening on Wednesday last with the new staff all making themselves known to us. Chema did a fantastic job with the steaks and the food from Collados was as usual excellent. With complimentary vino and beer a great night was had by all the Golf Rights Holders and their guests. Thanks to all involved especially Chema and Ramon the New Golf Team at Roda.

This is a great fun event which is held monthly around the first Saturday of the month and if you are a golfer and thinking of coming down to Roda you should check with the pro's shop in advance to see when the competition will be held in the following month so that you can include it in your trip.
The meal is great and the vino and beer are complimentary with the meal so it is also great value and of course you get to meet fellow owners and golfers both english and spanish speaking. I can highly recommend it to all golfers and ladies have their own competition within the event so no excuses. Hope to see some of you there.

Roda's September golf tournament for members, owners and guests was again a great success with over 40 participants and a number of partners joining the players for an excellent lunch inc loads of drink at 20 euros, plus prize presentation.
Personally I teed of at 08.50 and left the clubhouse after midnight, after lunch drinks were extra.
I played like a hacker but the company was great.

As a reminder from the pro shop re next month
....................................................................................
Dear Members,

We would like to remind you that the Monthly Social Tournament will be on October the 10th  as it is shown on the club house display. We would like to remind you that, as it was promised,  the meal after this month΄s social tournament will consist of argentinian style grilled meat.

In the same way, we would like you to know that the relatives and friends of the participants can attend the meal and prize giving after the tournament.
In order to get the voucher for this meal, they will need to come to the proshop.

Kindly regards,
Chema

................................................................................................

There is also a very active social golf meet every Tues, Thurs and Sat at around 08.30/09.00 check with proshop for tee times, all are welcome.

The more owners who participate in these events and support the clubhouse, perhaps Roda will realize that societies are not so important to them.
Golf prices went up after the summer low season rate from 16th Sept to 55 euros general rate, before discounts.

The golf course has been a hive of working activity and is still the jewel in the crown at Roda
