Mini Mart
« on: March 11, 2009, 05:57:50 PM »
Just heard from people on site that the new small shop in the old clubhouse is currently being stocked up so hopefully will be open as expected by 16th March.
That's a positive comment, isn't it. ;)

I was in the minimarket yesterday when I was down in Spain and it is looking very well. Plenty of UK branded items and will be open on Monday so hopefully it will be well supported by all owners and their renters as they will be depending on us all. I am not sure about opening hours but it is impressive so far.

Hi Lorraine,

Thanks for the update on this, as we can't get to Roda as often as we would like it's always good to hear of any progress being made.  I'm sure the mini-mart will welcomed by owners and renters alike and would imagine will be very well supported.

Jane

Do you have access to Roda Comunidad Forum? If not would you it?

Shop has opened, opening hours 9.00- 6.00 so sorry Sandra, no late opening yet. current stock may be limited but will grow, so not sure about your favourite tipple Jane.

Thanks for this update Hugh - still an open supermarket is better than no supermarket!

Sorry I meant to say that opening hours for now are 9.00am to 6.00pm but will extend to 9.00am to 9.00pm and possibly later as demand dictates after easter.

Hi
I received an email from Moira McGee today concerning the Mini Mart  - it all sounds very good and hopefully they will build up the range of what they are offering as demand increases.  I think it is a real bonus for the resort.

Concerning Wal-mart!!!!! at Roda Golf, I saw another posting by another owner on another forum as follows:

"Confirmed by owners by phone.

9am -6pm until the 10th of April.

9am -9pm from then on through the summer."

Great - I am so pleased!

The mini-market was open all over Easter which I am sure was helpful to people arriving during the end of the Semana Santa. They are now stocking fresh baguettes every day and a great selection of UK magazines and papers. They have started a lending library so if you have any books which you have already read they will find a good home in the mini market and for a small deposit of 5 euro you can borrow any book. This might be helpful for any owners who are renting as a car is no longer a necessity with all the staples and more now available on site.

The Mini Mart was an excellent service and we supported the shop everyday, and the kids quickly reilised they sold ice cream! Owners and guests must use this service so the shop remains open.

I agree with Murray and it is great to see the efforts being made by Sue and Paul. They have some local hand made jewellry, some framed photos, a book borrowing library, an information wall as well as all the uk and spanish newspapers and magazines, good wine selection, ice cream, milk, fruit, loads of staples, Uk chocolate bars and fresh bread delivered every morning so we all need to support them as they are very grateful for the business. I am in there every day almost and they are a pleasure to shop with.

When driving up over the bridge I have seen people going into Roda after struggling back from Consum with three or four bags in 30 degrees heat to save a few cents and it could be that they don't know about the mini market so perhaps anyone renting should let their renters know as I don't imagine that anyone would prefer the walk back from Consum with heavy bottles of water in this heat rather than support a local couple who are working hard to make a go of their business.

I couldn't agree more - the mini-mart has been a long time coming and is essential to the resort. Whilst we have a good choice of supermarkets in the area, Roda needs a shop on site.

With regard to renters knowing of the shop's whereabouts, I think most of us who rent our properties are keen to highlight any facility and amenity that is available and will make sure our guests know there's a shop on site.  However, I wonder if some sort of leaflet advertising the mini-mart would be helpful?  I'm sure most owners would be more than happy to display it or include it in their information brochure, this would give more information to people staying at the resort and hopefully drum up business for the mini-mart.  Just an idea.
